ANIME is a stylish animated series basically developed in Japan, characterized by great graphics and often featuring themes for an adult audience. Due to the large variety of anime shows, it isn’t possible to make an uncontroversial “Top 10 Anime Series” list. Therefore, this is merely a “most popular” list among all of the different categories of anime like Action, Mystery, Romance, Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi etc, with the all time Best 10 most watched and most well-known anime series. We have left many popular anime series in this list like Dragon ball z, Monster, Naruto etc, you can find each anime suitable to its own category but this list is the mixture of all genres.

LikeDislikeexcept naruto…*shivers*
nope, I don’t like that, although this is just my personal opinion.
the others: Steins Gate, Elfen Lied, Cowboy Bebop -the best,
One piece is so random, I love that show,
GITS:SAC’s great as well FMA (be it the “original” or Brotherhood).
bleach…was good, I enjoyed it, but not my “favorite”.
few more animes in “my favorite” category: Trigun, Great Teacher Onizuka, Black Lagoon, Jormungand and I enjoyed Full Metal Panic (+ second raid + fumoffu) too.
and what others recommended:

Berzerk:
it was good at first, but later on it became…well…too dark and esoterical, abstract.
(again, this is my personal opinion)
Mushi-shi:
not bad, not at all, but sadly the episodes are not related.
also it has some…unique mood, which I…think I liked. not sure though, it was too unique.
well, that’s for now.
feel free to hate me though,
for I hate naruto…the show…and the character…and the other characters too…well, mostly…
and for I said what I did, I have no regrets!

LikeDislikeyeah… and I forgot Death Note…
it was just great until L died. after that: N, Kira became L and whatever, I think they exaggerated it. the movie was great too.
(and again, just my opinion)

LikeDislikeCysta, FMA “Original”, ain’t the original, Brotherhood is the Original, the writer for the series took off 1/2 way through FMA, thus it side-tracked.
They remade it, basing it solely off the Manga and named it Brotherhood, thus it’s the original FMA, but both are good, but I prefer Brotherhood.
and also, you’re just a One-Piece Fan, One Piece is random and you love it, Naruto actually has a plot, I’d recommend you watch it all before you cast judgement on it.
They’re both good Anime, they wouldn’t be continuing this long if they weren’t, Just like Gintama, Detective Conan, Lupin III.
Other then Bleach :’( , Which I will make a statement about Naruto, That Rocklee Showdown Thing took it’s place, which I didn’t like…
Berserk was good, but I didn’t like the fact they didn’t continue with the manga plot.
Steins;Gate I’ve yet to watch, though I have it.
Elfen Lied was great, even in English.
Comboy Bebop, need not have to mention it’s superiority.

LikeDislikeTo say Naruto is the best anime ever is a joke. Bleach, one piece, and fairy tale are good but not the best. They are have too much filler in them and the story although good to exceptional at times isn;t consistent. Shows like Beserk, death note (sadly the series weakens at the end), steins gate, fate zero are more realistic and mature therefore in my opinion better.

LikeDislikeBeing pretty much the same age I too have thohgut about the question of Will I always like anime? . I got into anime back in 1998 when I was fourteen. Certainly five years later I suffered something of a burnout. Over 2003 and 2004 I watched almost no anime. I kept abreast of everything, and heck, I even ended up at Anime Expo those two years (despite, like yourself coming from England). Still, I can count on one hand the number of series I watched in each of those years. I’d go to AX, see everyone raving about Last Exile in 2003 and be all Ehh. Might watch that one day. I’m not sure what it was that made me fall-out of watching anime but I think it was largely over exposure. I spent five years watching anything I could get my hands on. As digital fan-subs and broadband connections became more common so I was able to watch more and more. I reached a saturation point and turned back to real life entertainment in the form of Asian cinema (mainly South Korean and Hong Kong cinema which I had gained an interest in a couple of years before). That became my new staple form of entertainment.Eventually however, in early 2005, I got back into my anime habit. It was Mai Hime of all series that did this. I think I spent most of 2003 and ’04 complaining about how anime just wasn’t very good anymore (Princess Tutu being the amazing exception). Mai Hime though was just *fun* and its second half was great classic anime action (forget the lame conclusion).Don’t know why I’ve prattled on like this, but I think it shows that I probably will remain interested in anime for the foreseeable future. I’ve not no reason to give up on it provided there are always some quality shows out there. I’ve also come to realise that even some of the old, tired anime clichc3a9s are, well, comforting. It is kinda nice to tune into some series and be all Oh! There’s the rival! or whatever. I’ve actually come to quite like that aspect of anime (provided the series isn’t totally derivative). My main interests all compete with one another: when a new game comes out I tend to spend my free time almost exclusively on that, when I’ve got a load of new films I’ll spend evenings watching them, if I come across a great new anime (which isn’t new and being released weekly) I’ll cram that one evening after another. So anime goes up and down as my main interest but I can’t see myself growing out of it. I’ve been interested in it since I was a kid and saw the artwork style on all those computer games I liked. For me at least there’s certainly a deeper bond which won’t be broken too easily ^^

LikeDislikeId just like to elaborate on why I enjoy anime so much:Im an iofarmntion junkie. I enjoy finding new sources of entertainment in life, whether they be ancient epics or modern cyberpunk, obscure folklore or science fiction classics, idealism or nihilism, religion or irreligion, fiction or non-fiction, myth or history, domestic or foreign, mainstream or underground. Anime attracted me because of its unique diversity I have listened to music, watched TV, watched films, played computer games, read comics and read books from across the world Europe, North America, India, China, Japan, Korea, etc and from every genre. And in all that time, I never found anything apart from literature (and the films adapted from it) and manga (and the anime adapted from it) that were so diverse. Maybe there will always be counter-culture movements, and maybe marginal or underground expression will always make it into the mainstream, in which case there is nothing to worry about, but its nice that anime has a higher degree of artistic diversity I cant watch something like Ghost in the Shell’ on British TV I cant watch a Indian version of Bleach’ I cant watch an American Berserk’.

LikeDislikeI have only seen 3 of the above series, but I honestly think Berserk should be in this list. It is a great anime series and the manga is amazing, too. It is quite dark, but at only 25 episodes, it is definitely worth a watch. I would say it is my second favorite anime after Cowboy Bebop. Highly recommended!

LikeDislikeMushi-Shi is one of the most unique anime’s I’ve ever come across and it definitely fights for my top spot (Ghost in the Shell being the contender). While it’s not action intensive the thoughtful and the art I find above par for most series. I haven’t been able to get through the live action feature length so I would say skip that one… But Mushi-Shi as it is so unique and for me plain awesome deserves a spot.

LikeDislikeWhen you make a list like this there will always be many great series that didn’t make the cut simply for the fact that you’ve a limited number of spots. Here’s some series that I feel are contenders for making this list.
The first series is Samaurai Champloo an epic action anime with lots of sword action. The characters in this are amazing. Mugen and Jin are beyond badass and Fuu is exceptionally cute. It’s beautifully animated and well written. It’s by the same director who made Cowboy Bebop. Enough said, it’s incredible. Here’s the link.

The next series is another personal favourite of mine that’s very high on my Top 100 list. It’s called Baccano! It’s a series that’s hard to describe without spoiling it. If you like hardcore action, suspense, and fantasy. You will love it. Issac and Miria are my favourite anime duo ever! However Baccano! does feature some demented characters and plenty of graphic violence. If you like Elfen Lied you will adore Baccano! Here’s the link.

Those are just two series I feel that are geniune contenders for possibly making the list. I’ll leave it at that otherwise I could be here typing all day. I might have also included Rurouni Kenshin and Maison Ikkoku but those would be personal picks.

LikeDislikeMaybe it was one of the openings? I rbeemmer one of Kon singing and it was in black and white! If I rbeemmer correctly The song was Alones by Aqua Times.Other than that it could always be part of a commercial or maybe a fanmade opening for the group who put the video up.

LikeDislikeYou know bateszi, you have a nasty habit of asnikg difficult questions out of nowhere Why do I watch anime? I guess there are two main reasons for that. The first one is I am bored with Hollywood productions simply because they lack soul. Most of them are so generic and predictable, that if you’ve seen one action flick or romantic comedy you’ve seen them all. You know which side character’s gonna die and who’s going to end up together to live happily ever after. Boring. There are, of course, exceptions like Forrest Gump or Seven, but movies of such caliber come around way too seldom. The world of anime on the other hand is filled with so much more creativity that it’s easier to find something unique and deep. When watching anime I know I can expect the unexpected. There is a huge possibility of the ending not being happy, main characters are not immortal and sometimes die (Wolf’s Rain, anyone?). The surroundings are much more imaginative I can immerse myself in the world. For those very reasons it feels like anime is, in a sense despite using animated characters closer to real life than movies using normal actors. The second reason is difference in culture. A lot of real life problems are being discussed in anime and it’s interesting to see how a completely different culture than the European one deals with them. Some things considered normal here are unacceptable there and vice versa. Watching these two views clash is a pleasent experience.OK, with that little rant out of the way, let’s get back to the topic at hand. I usually watch anime after the whole series is subbed. It’s just easier that way I know how the whole thing was received and I can start/stop watching whenever I want without having to wait for new eps to be subbed. So far I have rarely been disappointed with the choices made. This time around was a bit different though. I’ve started watching 6 series in the fall season (2 of which are a bit of a let down so far Michiko to Hatchin & Mouryou no Hako). The result? I’ll probably never do that again. Simply put, following all of the shows the same time is a bit of a pain. Some series are released frequently while others fall behind for a couple of weeks only to be released in a huge batch shortly after. Following a longer hiatus I sometimes catch myself thinking What was going on in this anime again? , which is even more apparent in the case of more convulted shows. The irregular pace just seems to take something important away from the whole experience. I guess I’ll go back to watching anime the way I used to especially because I have so many great titles to catch up on (Honey and Clover being one of them).

LikeDislikeSeeing that this is a site where readers come to find anime to watch please refrain from posting spoilers in the comment section. That is frustrating as a reader myself when I’m reading comments for more suggestions and the anime I was going to watch is now ruined from someone’s insensitivity. Thank you.
