Our Review : Daikyouryuu Jidai is a very old children’s adventure and documentary on the life of dinosaurs. It was quite good back in the time it was made but it is crap by today’s standards.

ART & SOUND SECTION: 4/10
Hand drawn and minimalistic sketches along with pathetic monophonic music themes. The dinosaurs were the best part to be given some attention but even they seem fake once you’ve watched Jurasic Park and Ice Age.

STORY SECTION: 5/10
Very simple but at least it does have a scenario instead of being a simple documentary.
Three kids are taken back in time by a mysterious force in order to respect the history of life. They are meddling with the normal way of life there in order to save a baby dinosaur from a Tyrannosaur and end up being chased by him through different periods of time.

CHARACTERS SECTION: 3/10
Boooring!
We have three kids: A boy and a girl, which are the archetypes of the ideal Japanese people, and another boy, which is acting silly and is the comic relief of the story. There is also a friendly dinosaur the kids save, who helps them in their quest and an avenging Tyrannosaur, the bad guy of the story. There are also pre-historic people, whom the kids help defeat the Tyrannosaur and are essentially stunts.

VALUE SECTION: 1/10
None! Go watch the History Channel for a lot more info on dinosaurs and a lot better looking graphics.

ENJOYMENT SECTION: 1/10
I don’t recommend it to anyone. Heck! Why did I even bother watching it myself? … Or writing this review for the same manner?

VERDICT: 3/10
I regret to inform you that the patient has left us.
