Genre : Comedy, Crime, Mystery, Supernatural

Plot : In Victorian-era Europe, a young boy loses everything he once held near and dear to a vicious plot. In his moment of death, he strikes a deal with a demon: his soul, in exchange for revenge. Ciel Phantomhive is now the head of the Phantomhive corporation, handling all business affairs as well as the underground work for the Queen of England. His new partner is a demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, whose powers as a butler is only surpassed by his strength as a demon. The story follows the two along with their other servants, as they work to unravel the plot behind Ciel's parents' murder, and the horrendous tragedies that befell Ciel in the month directly after.

Our Review : Black Butler has mystery, drama, romance, comic relief and involves the supernatural world. Most animes ruin it with the ending. This one is really good. I agree it starts out pretty bad but it turns really good really fast. It has a darker feel toward the end reminiscent of Fullmetal alchemists. If you want the standard hero shows up has a minor problem then overcomes the bad guy with some special power. This is not your show. If you want a solid story with some of the cutsie stuff that ends well, has really decent lessons, and great side character stories then I say give it a try. The second half is not quite as good but then ending makes it well worth the time.

  2. I agree with this.
The first episode(s?) for me are not that exciting, but as it goes on, it really gives you anticipation and excitement. Every now and then I would like a dark, mystery anime, and this is it!
Yes, the first season is much better than the second (for me). Though if you read the mangga (which is still ongoing), the mangga would be much better.
I don’t find the ending nice (seeing as I read the mangga XD), and I don’t like how they portrayed Ciel though. In the anime, he seems to be more whiny and needy (especially in the second half) though in the mangga it shows how smart Ciel is, seeing that he is the one that comes up with the plans and Sebastian just acts it out.
Anyway, I super duper love kuroshitsuji 😀
